Waste Separation At Source

Overview

Back in 2020, there was a lack of effective recycling collection systems in Malaysia. To address this gap, Nestlé Malaysia pioneered Project SAVE, and has now expanded to one of the largest voluntary Extended Producer Responsibility initiatives. Implemented in collaboration with municipal councils in the Klang Valley and Penang, as well as concessionaires in Kuala Lumpur and Kedah, the program introduced a convenient door-to-door recycling collection covering landed households, strata buildings, and even rural communities.

Working with and enhancing existing recycling system and infrastructure, Project SAVE provides a convenient and reliable recycling solution while empowering local communities to adopt responsible recycling habits at home. Project SAVE not only made recycling easier and more effective but also successfully diverted a significant amount of recyclables from ending up in landfills or as litter.
